This month Marvel is celebrating its 80th anniversary. We've enjoyed eighty years of incredible stories of superhumans duking it out with the forces of evil and saving the planet from certain doom. We've fallen in love with characters who turn invisible, shoot lasers from their eyes, shapeshift, bend reality, wield Adamantium metal claws, and melt foes with the heat of a thousand suns. It's been a wild ride and Marvel fans have a lot to be excited about.
And the excitement continues here! We have a slew of anniversary events to help Marvel blow out all 80 birthday candles, along with some other fun events coming up. Let's take a look.
Marvel 80th Trait & Events
MARVEL Strike Force is joining the anniversary festivities with a series of events based around a limited-time Marvel 80th trait. We've given the trait to a collection of classic characters who have been a mainstay in Marvel stories for many years. Here is a list of the characters with the Marvel 80th trait:
- Mister Fantastic
- Human Torch
- The Thing
- Black Widow
- Captain America
- Doctor Strange
- Scarlet Witch
- Rocket Raccoon
- Captain Marvel
- Ms. Marvel
- Black Panther
We're featuring the Marvel 80th trait in several events. First is the upcoming the Thing Event Campaign: Two-in-One. Team up with the Thing and Human Torch using your Marvel 80th characters for a chance to earn the Thing shards.
Next, are the Marvel 80th Blitz & Orb Milestones. In the Bombastic Blitz Milestone, use your Marvel 80th characters to fight your way through Blitz battles to score points and earn Marvel Anniversary Orb Fragments, Namor shards, and other rewards. The Marvel Anniversary Orb contains select marquee characters and features Namor at a higher drop rate. In the Orbs Away Milestone, you can score points by opening Marvel Anniversary Orbs to earn Namor shards, Orange Elite Orb Fragments, and other rewards.
Passive Ability Duration Fix
Our 3.4 release is around the corner and included in the release is a bug fix that will have a visual change to certain passive abilities. The bug affected passive abilities that applied positive effects to self and resulted in a duration that was too long for some characters and too short for others.
The fix ensures that the correct durations for these Passive abilities will be applied. An example of a character ability affected by this fix is Groot. Groot is a good example as his passive applies Slow when he's hit. Groot was previously applying 2 Slow, but one would immediately disappear because the person who hit him would have their turn expire. Now, he'll just apply a single Slow, but it won't immediately disappear. Other examples where you may see changes like this are in passive abilities like when Nebula gains Speed Up or when Storm applies Speed Up to X-Men allies. How these abilities work in combat won’t be changing, but we want to give you a heads up as there will be situations where it might look slightly different.
Payday Flash Event
Hot on the heels of the 2x Merc Event is the Merc Payday Flash Event. Lead your top Mercenaries into battle for a chance to earn piles of Gold.
Vulture Blitz: Round Two
The ruthless raptor is circling back for a second stint in Blitz! Don't miss out on another chance to recruit and rank up the Sinister Six Brawler. Vulture preys on negative effects, but he specializes in hindering City Heroes by applying Slow and Offense Down. Build your City-stomping team with Vulture!
That's it for this week! As always…
Good luck, Commanders!
